About Us

"This blog comes from one of the oldest publishing houses in Mysore by name "BHARATHI PRAKASHANA" which was started in 1954 by Mr. B.N Narasinga Rao as a passion and hobby, while he was a school teacher by profession .He continued his journey as a publisher for about 20 years and presented hundreds of valuable books to the Kannada Literature world, most of them novels written by authors in Kannada who have remained well-known from those days, like Triveni (SOTU GEDDAVALU), Niranjana (TAAYI, a translation of MOTHER by famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky), Anupama Niranjana (SANKOLAE OLAGINDA),Ta Ra Su and others, which gave him lots of name and fame in the Kannada publishing world. He took a back seat from his publishing activities towards late 80's for personal reasons and it was almost standstill by 1980.

Then there was a new light and a charm that came to BHARATHI PRAKASHANA in the form of Mr B.N Srinivas, a Science graduate with passion towards Kannada Literature, a sound vision towards publishing and also the elder son of Sri. B.N. Narasinga Rao. Srinivas took this as his profession and a challenge to continue the journey by publishing all varieties of books pertaining to all formats of Kannada literature. Bharathi Prakashana now emerged as one of the well-known publishing houses in Mysore & Karnataka, and it has contributed more than 500 Kannada works of different types like novels, science fiction books, literature for children, autobiography & biographies of freedom fighters, spiritual works, books on contemporary topics and so on. Re-christened as Nava Bharathi Prakashana, the firm continues to publish and present tasteful Kannada works to the society, while its publications have reached every corner of Karnataka, parts of India and even overseas, like the guidebooks for Junior and Senior Carnatic Classical Music.

Nava Bharathi Prakashana is proud of its history and heritage of 56 years of excellence in the Kannada Literature world and it will not be an exaggeration to say this concern has played an important role in Mysore being recognised as a hub for rich Kannada literature. The tradition set by Sri. B.N. Narasinga Rao to give a higher priority to the quality of books over booking profits every time, continued with the same passion by Mr. Srinivas, has caused many first time authors to see their works come out in print through this publishing house. It continues to seek fresh and new works fit for publication and looks forward to the patronage of culturally endowed Kannadigas and all citizens of the literary world."
